Woven With Purpose: The Story Behind Kindly Woven’s First Blanket Collection

A collection of woven tapestry blankets.

Kindly Woven’s debut blanket collection began with a question: What if more artists had access to the woven world?

As a textile designer and educator, our leader, Laura Adams, has spent years immersed in the craft—studying weaving not only as a technical discipline, but as a language of design. She has also spent just as much time listening: to artists, to surface designers, and to the creative voices inside our courses and community who felt a pull toward something more tactile. Something more lasting. Something woven.

This collection grew from both of those roots: deep trend research we conducted and shared with the artists in our course, and their incredible desire to take that insight and run with it, translating their work into a whole new medium.

It’s a collection rooted in purpose. One that honors artistic vision while bringing more transparency, opportunity, and collaboration into the woven space. It’s about opening the doors of this often hard-to-access industry and welcoming in the artists who deserve to be here.

These blankets aren’t just products. They are partnerships—between art and craft, digital and tactile, surface and structure. And behind every design is an artist who brought it to life.

You’ll meet pieces from Melissa McKeagney, Kristina Graf, Roberta Bologna, Lisa Mabey, Melissa Dayton, and our own beloved team member, Carma Jordan. Each interprets the woven medium in a new way, guided by shared trend direction but led by their own unique voice. From bold florals to minimal grids, lyrical botanicals to folkloric motifs, the line is full of personality and depth.

Two themes echo throughout the collection: heritage and nature. Not just as visuals, but as feelings. We’re drawn to what’s grounded: old-world craftsmanship, meaningful pattern, textures that endure. And we’re equally pulled toward the organic: soft edges, natural palettes, and the calm that only earth and sky can bring.

The woven process itself adds even more dimension. Each design had to be reimagined through the lens of loom and thread, where texture, color blending, and structure alter the art in beautiful and unexpected ways. It’s part of what makes woven textiles so magical. They evolve.

At the center of this debut is a mission: to create opportunities that are beautiful, meaningful, and fair. We want artists to earn from their work. To feel proud of what they’ve made. To know that their designs are not just manufactured and sold, but respected, honored, and transformed into something designed to last for generations.

This line is a love letter:
To textiles.
To the artists we believe in.
To the idea that collaboration can reshape an entire industry.

The full collection is now live. Browse the line here.
We hope you’ll explore every piece and the people and stories woven into each one.
