Designing for the Five Senses (Especially the One That Gets Overlooked)
Aug 05, 2025
Interior designers know that great design is more than just how a space looks—it’s how it feels. Literally.
The weight of a blanket. The softness of a fabric. The warmth of wood under bare feet. Touch is one of the first ways we connect to a space, and for designers, it’s foundational. But for the rest of us, it’s often not the first thing we think of.
In a world where design is mostly consumed through screens and still images, we're used to admiring interiors visually. We're not always taught to consider how a room sounds, feels, or moves. But that’s what transforms a room into something you can truly live in.
Tactile by Design
When we started developing our first blanket collection, we thought like designers. We didn’t just look at colors or patterns—we looked at construction. Fiber, weight, weave, and finish were all part of the conversation from day one.
We asked: What does comfort weigh? How does softness drape? What makes a fabric feel not just nice, but grounding?
We compared fiber types. We studied different weaves. We handled samples, draped them, folded them, and thought carefully about how each one would live in a space. These blankets aren’t just accents. They’re meant to be sat on, wrapped around, pulled over, and passed down.
A Layer That Changes the Room
There’s something emotional about a material that meets you with softness. It doesn’t just add to the look of a space, it shifts the mood. It invites pause. It creates warmth without noise.
The pieces we’ve created carry bold pattern, yes—but what sets them apart is the way they feel. The texture, the weight, the way they move with the room and with you. They bring dimension without distraction.
And they offer an easy way to start designing more sensorially, like the best designers do. Because good design doesn’t just ask how something looks—it asks how it will live.
These blankets were made to be part of that answer: not just beautiful to see, but comforting to touch, hold, and use every day. Our upcoming collection was designed to be experienced. And we can’t wait for you to feel what we’ve made.
