Take the Next Step From Learning to Commercial Opportunity
WOVEN was created to help you understand how the interiors industry works and prepare your artwork for real commercial opportunities.
After completing WOVEN, you’ll be eligible to apply for the Kindly Woven Design Team.
The Design Team is a curated group of surface pattern designers who will be invited to respond to commercial artwork briefs as opportunities become available.
This is an opportunity to move beyond learning and begin applying your skills in a professional setting.
Apply to the Design TeamWho Can Apply?
You are eligible to apply after successfully completing WOVEN or another qualifying advanced course.
Completing the course makes you eligible to submit an application, but it does not guarantee acceptance to the Design Team.
Applications are reviewed based on factors such as:
- Portfolio quality
- Commercial relevance
- Originality and point of view
- Understanding of the interiors market
- Professionalism
- Technical readiness
- Overall fit with potential commercial opportunities
Your portfolio does not need to look like everyone else’s. We are interested in designers with a clear creative voice who can also understand and respond to the needs of the market.

How the Application Process Works
Â
1. Complete WOVEN
Finish the course curriculum so you understand the commercial, creative, and technical expectations of the interiors industry.
Â
2. Submit Your Application
Tell us about your experience, interests, and goals, and provide a link to your current portfolio.
Â
3. Portfolio Review
Your application and portfolio will be reviewed for quality, commercial readiness, and fit with the types of opportunities that may become available.
Â
4. Application Decision
You’ll be notified after your application has been reviewed.
If you are not accepted initially, that does not mean you cannot apply again. You may be encouraged to strengthen particular areas of your portfolio and reapply in the future.
Â
5. Brief Invitations
Accepted Design Team members will receive every commercial artwork brief that becomes available.
You can review the creative direction, requirements, timeline, compensation, and usage terms for each opportunity and decide whether you would like to participate.
Responding to a brief is always optional. You are not required to submit artwork for every opportunity, and submitting artwork does not guarantee that your design will be selected.
Apply to the Design TeamWhat Acceptance Means
Acceptance to the Kindly Woven Design Team means you will receive every commercial artwork brief shared with the team.
For each brief, you’ll receive the creative direction, requirements, and timeline. You can review the opportunity and decide whether you would like to participate.
Responding to a brief is always optional. You are not required to submit artwork for every opportunity.
Acceptance does not guarantee:
- A specific number of briefs
- That your artwork will be selected
- Ongoing assignments
- Employment
- A particular level of income
Every designer who responds to a brief will be considered, but designs will be selected based on the specific needs and commercial direction of that opportunity.
Each brief will have its own requirements, selection process, compensation, and usage terms.
The goal of the Design Team is to create a bridge between education and real commercial opportunities while maintaining the professional standards required by the market.

Before You Apply
Before submitting your application, take time to review your portfolio and make sure it represents the kind of work you want to be hired to create.
Your portfolio should:
- Show a clear and original creative point of view
- Include work relevant to interiors or home furnishings
- Demonstrate your ability to create commercially useful designs
- Be organized and easy to review
- Include your strongest work rather than everything you have created
- Reflect what you learned inside WOVEN
You do not need an enormous portfolio. A focused collection of strong, relevant work is more valuable than a large portfolio without a clear direction.
