Hi, I'm Laura

Textile designer, educator, and founder of Kindly Woven. 

Most educators teach surface pattern design from the artist's perspective.

My career has given me the opportunity to spend years on the buyer's side of the table.

For years, I've worked in the interiors industry, collaborating with artists, developing woven collections, and bringing artwork from concept to finished product. Along the way, I've watched how buyers, manufacturers, and product developers evaluate artwork long before it ever reaches a store shelf.

That experience changed the way I think about commercial design, and it's the perspective I bring to every lesson I teach.

My passion is helping surface pattern designers bridge the gap between creating beautiful artwork and creating artwork that's commercially valuable, so they can better understand how buyers think, where their work fits in the market, and how to create with greater confidence and intention.
